it is just no longer attached to something that would hold it tightly clamped

9 3/4" tall with lid x 8" diameter at widest

completely filled with a spectrum of variously sized and shaped pen nibs

I would guess mid-20th century

Fabulous Old Painted Root Wood Leopard! (With Gnawed At Nose) ornate spoon it is just no longerThis! One of two leopards today, which alone mean it was a good week. And quite a singular thing this one, made of a piece of root wood, lending it this wonderfully snaking and twisting body. Something appears to have gnawed a bit at its snout at some point, resulting in some loss and roughness there, and the end of one leg shows a little loss too but what remains is so good and so full of life I don't much care!
