VD | Volunteer Officers' Decoration 1892-1901 service This medal was issued toVD Volunteer Officers Decoration Instituted in 1892 and extended to officers of the Colonial Volunteer Forces in 1894. It recognised: 20 years commissioned service in the Army or Navy; and Up to 10 years prior service in the ranks could count toward the qualifying period. Recipients are entitled to the post nominals V. D. The first awards were gazetted in November 1895 and the last in July 1901, with the Decoration superseded by the Colonial Auxiliary
