Awarded on October 6, 2017, and laid down on October 9, 2019, the ship was christened and launched on August 7, 2021. Named after Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, the USS Nantuckets motto is "DOMINAE GRISEAE MARIS" (Gray Lady of the Sea). Currently awaiting commissioning, it will serve as a versatile, fast response vessel in the U. S. Navy fleet.
