ACLS : : cardiac arrest epinephrine (IV push) is a primary drug used in treating cardiac arrest improves perfusion pressure to brain & heart (due to vasoconstrictor effects) improves cardiac output (due to increasing heart rate, contractility & AVN conduction) : bradycardia & post-cardiac arrest hypotension epinephrine can be given by IV infusion or via endotracheal tube improves blood pressure, perfusion pressure, heart rate, contractility & AVN conduction NOTE: As outlined in current ACLS protocols, atropine is more commonly preferred as a drug of choice for treating symptomatic bradycardia
Infections with Granulibacter bethesdensis (a Gram-negative rod bacterium that causes chronic necrotizing lymphadenitis and sepsis) and Burkholderia gladioli (a Gram-negative rod bacterium which can cause osteomyelitis and sepsis) should prompt evaluation for CGD
Supplemental lipoic acid also decreased the serum concentrations of some (IFN-, ICAM-1, TGF-, IL-4), but not all markers (TNF-, IL-6, MMP-9), cytokines and other inflammation (98)
Although the treatment landscape has expanded to include biologics and small-molecule agents, contemporary management is increasingly focused on altering the course of the disease rather than relying on symptom control alone
