Like most Pokmon cards, the value of Superior Energy Retrieval depends on a few consistent factors: its rarity, the printing and finish (regular or foil), its physical condition, and the set it was printed in (Paldea Evolved)

Obviously, its much more worthwhile in the go-wide decks, but at that point youve got a lot of competition, such as Horn of Valhalla, which I think is just objectively better (its two spells in one, its cheaper, its easier to equip, its got a higher ceiling drawn late, and bouncing it to your hand can let you recast its Adventure), not to mention easier to obtain for most players

It cant block small creatures, but its large enough to tussle with most creatures that cost 4-6 mana, making it a formidable defender
