Greens creatures are where you see some of the shrinkage more, as theres not a pure green creature with power 6 or more, and large common creatures are smaller than in most sets before you get to the Artifacts with prototype that are essentially partially green

Invasion of Shandalar / Leyline Surge Invasion of Shandalars effect is a decent enough recursion spell, but if you manage to transform it (and keep Leyline Surge from being destroyed) you can cheat any one permanent in your hand onto the battlefield per turn, which can be absurdly good

The game was still hogwash here, but it was starting to make a lot more sense
