The features of the lady depicted are very similar to that of Anne of Austria, Queen of France, who was famously painted in mourning dress on several occasions, not least by Rubens in 1622. The portrait has crazing in areas and some small paint losses. The work has no visible signature. The frame has losses to the left side of the frame and bottom right corner
