I have had no luck at all turning up the artist (searches for Truitt yield page upon page of the wonderful work of Anne Truitt

sleeves rolled up

which I believe dates to the end of the 19th century

Lovely Antique Four Drawer "Salesman Sample" Chest cedar bark basket There is an old splitNot my expertise (what is, really?!), but with its clean lines, turned pulls, paneled sides, and gently rounded corners on the top, I think this tabletop chest is really beautiful, and useful for stashing all sorts of little ish things. My guess would be late 19th century, and I assume made as an apprentice piece or salesman sample as chests of this scale usually were.
