19th Century Lion Of Lucerne 18th Century Weight: 230 grams (approx)A 19th century 'Lion of Lucerne', after the large carved rock relief in Switzerland designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen (1770 1884). The alabaster lion sits atop an associated grey marble base. The two elements are separate but the presence of what looks to be a fixture in the middle of the base and mirrored hole to the lion indicates that they were likely affixed originally. There is some age tone to the lion and light wear nibbles commensurate with age
