Man of the Wood, Wonderful Old Folk Art Burl Wood Carving antique snuff box with portrait or else fierce determinationI purchased this from a seller in Alabama, who inherited it from his picker collector father 40+ years ago, and described it as having looked equally old then; my guess is earlyish 20th century. I wasn't completely certain it would be as good as I hoped but happily it is even better! I recently bought and sold what turned out to be a piece by Moses Ogden; this is not, but it has a related sense of specialness and gravitas to it, really quite an
