I have a feeling Fancher repurposed the watercolor Chicks for Sale sign in order to make his athletics illustration

Somehow it keeps making me think of Frank Lloyd Wright--maybe it’s the falling water

This one I believe dates to the late 19th century and was produced in Germany (for international distribution)

They feel to me midway between Italian reliquaries and Victorian glass domed waxworks, and most of all full of the never ending (and very early Victorian) drive to make momentos of every sort lest one be forgotten. And these of course are best lit by candlelight, with the reverse
