I often use the word painterly to describe tintypes that have a poetic sort of spareness and tonal richness to them--I'm not totally sure how to articulate it

though--which make we want to have another more squarish set on hand to arrange in combination

(It is always interesting to me to see how Froebel's rigorous kindergarten program evolved and morphed (a lot!) over time.) Anyway, I find this cut paper animal pretty excellent, and like the subtle toning rectangle running vertical across the center of its body too. And on the back, rather crookedly mounted, a sweet cut paper barn with opening doors,
