TEMBO Madagascar The last decade almost 10Tembo is Swahili for elephant, the biggest animal in the world. Elephants are ecosystem engineers. They push over trees to maintain savanna ecosystems, excavate waterholes and fertilize land, which helps other animals thrive! I remember that this elephant was the first animal that greeted us when we entered the park in the early morning. We slept on the other side of the Murchison River and had to take a boat to be able to enter the park from there.
