Suda was strongly influenced by both Danish Modern pottery and native Canadian art--influences which I think wonderfully merge in these earthy and strikingly graphic hand-formed candleholders

then coated with many successive layers of lacquer

which I am guessing indicates this was either painted at or previously owned by Wellesley College

Naef Spiel Blocks, Complete Original Set of 18, 1956 pair of mugs A little scratching and wearI love blocks of all sorts, but these are my very favorites of all one of the first toys designed by renowned Swiss carpenter and designer Kurt Naef (19262006), in 1956. Now highly collectible icons of modern design, they continue to be produced in a smaller set of 16 today, but these are the real, rare deal a complete original set of 18 with gold foil stamp on one of the green blocks and the original box and card to boot. Just gorgeous. I found one
