the skillfulness of Black Forest carving is hard to deny--which this snuff-box-scale carved and hinged box exemplifies--and this one is very much indeed my cup of tea

which would originally have housed a combination of undivided cubes and others divided in halves or quarters

I'm a sucker for naive old paintings of roses, and all the sweeter with a few little daisies and sprigs of what not mixed in. 6 1 8" x 3 3 4". Looks like ink and watercolor to me on folded paper, blank inside. Very good condition.
