Turn of the Lane, Wonderful Earlyish 19th Century Oil on Paper Apple with Perfect Inked Lettering metal mold I believe this old pinAll the better in person, this is my favorite of the week and to my eye just a perfect thing. Early 19th century I believe, and the paint is oil rather than watercolor, giving the surface of that wonderful apple and its finely serrated leaves (I thought at first maybe actual leaves that had been pressed down, but I do believe painted) a marvelous sheen. I did a search for Turn of the Lane apples and can find not even a reference a long lost variety,
